February 14-20: Nana and Papa come home!

February 14.  Valentine's Day started out with household chores again.  I love that this is becoming our habit.  The boys are learning to work and the house is getting clean.

February 15.  We had a nice dinner at the Hansen's after church.  Ed and Cyndy were kind enough to take the kids for a sleepover so that I could go to a work breakfast in the morning.

February 16.  Monday morning was President's Day.  Even though it was a holiday I went to a work breakfast for the PDA and then took the afternoon off.  I met back up with the kids and Grandma and Grandpa Hansen at the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  Kirstin, Rigby and Emme also joined us.

February 17-18.  Mom and Dad made it to Utah from their mission for a three week break while the temple is closed and getting a new roof.  I really wanted to see them on Tuesday, but the stars weren't ready to align.  We were finally able to see Nana and Papa for lunch at City Creek Center on Wednesday.  While we were waiting for the boys to be done with school, Abby got to play with her bubble machine.

February 19.  Mom and Dad planned a fun evening together on Thursday night.  We had dinner, played minute to win it games, and had a pinata all at John and Jill's church.

February 20.  On Friday, Abby and Stan went to our neighbors' while Kimball was at school and I worked.  Abby had a great time playing with Maddie.

After school, we picked up Nana and went to McDonalds for lunch.  We brought Nana home and Kimball went to piano.  The boys also started a project where they turned a toilet paper roll into slugs from Slugterra.  Kimball didn't finish the aracnet slug, but Stan's Burpy turned out quite nice.

Papa joined us for a pizza dinner and then Nana and Papa slept over so Bryce and I could have a night out.  We went and saw Jupiter Ascending and stayed over at a hotel in Sandy.  It was a really nice way to end the week.

February 7-13: A party, a pinata and some really nice weather

February 7.  Saturday was a fun day.  It started with lots of jobs because the boys are working towards some new toys.  In the afternoon we got to go to Oliver's birthday party.  Oliver is Kimball's best friend and our neighbor.  The party was at Jungle Jim's.  We had a blast!

On Saturday night the kids got baths.  They looked like little ducks huddled before the space heater.

Each night after we say prayers I try to read to them in the Book of Mormon.  Saturday night we were reading in 3rd Nephi where Christ tells the people that contention is of the Devil.  Kimball asked what that meant and I explained.  I took the opportunity to engage in a little religious manipulation and told the kids (Stan specifically) that when they trow tantrums they are listening to the Devil.  I let that sink in and kissed them goodnight.

The following morning I was trying to heard the kids out the door to church.  Stan was trying to zip his jacket and was having some difficulty.  This kind of thing usually elicits screaming yelling and a trantrum.  (Stan does not deal well with frustration).  I could see his was grunting and trying hard not to lose it.  I asked if he could help and he told me he didn't want to yell because "I don't want to listen to that guy."

Of course, now he takes every opportunity to tell me each time I yell, that I am listening to the Devil.

February 8.  On Sunday we celebrated Bryce's birthday.  I made a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and decorated it with his favorite candy bar--Twix.

On the way to Grandma and Grandpa's house Stan insisted on wearing his new rubber gloves.  We got them so he could help clean toilets.

These boys love their daddy.

After dinner the kids helped Grandpa put the 4 wheelers away.

February 9.  Bryce's real birthday.  Sadly there are no pictures.

February 10.  On Tuesday after school Oliver invited us over to open the pinata from his birthday party.  (There just wasn't time on Saturday.)

February 11.  The weather was so nice on Wednesday we spent some time digging in the garden and playing on the swings.  For dinner I made Thai Chicken Rolls.  This was my attempt to feed the craving for the Thai Chicken Pizza from Papa Murphy's.

February 12.  On Thursday it was Stan's Valentine's party at preschool.  Sadly I did not think to take a picture.  However, this was the first day all year that he was excited to go to school.  Most days I have to drag him.  He even wrote a song about it that goes "Except I don't want to.  But I have to!  It's a school day!"  If you want to hear it you can click HERE.

On Thursday evening some of the girls in the neighborhood had a girl's night.  There are some really great women that live on my street.  We got together and played games and had a mini shower for Veronica who is due this next week.  One of the games we played is called Googly Eyes.  It's like Pictionary with glasses that distort your vision.

Also, on Thursday evening Bryce called me to tell me that I had purchased movie tickets for the wrong day.  We had been planning to go out for Valentine's Day on Friday but I bought tickets for Thursday night.  We called the theater and they graciously exchanged them, but that wasn't the end of this fateful date.

February 13.  Friday, Kimball had his Valentine's party at school.  I forced him to share his candy with his siblings.  I'm a horrible mother.

Friday evening we gave the kids their Valentines from us just before we picked up the sitter.  They got stuffed slugs from the show "Slugterra."  They have been obsessed with it ever since they were introduced to it by the cousins.  Well, the boys anyway.  Abby prefers Chuggington.

So Bryce and I were off on our movie date with the exchanged tickets.  What you need to know is that I had decided to purchase tickets for Thanksgiving Point.  The reason for this  was that the times were a bit earlier so we didn't have to stay out as late.  What I did not factor into the equation was traffic--and not the usual traffic.  The radio said it was the worst Friday rush hour traffic ever.  It took us an hour to get to the movie.  We missed the one we wanted to see--Jupiter Ascending--and had to see another--Project Almanac--instead.  Bryce was disappointed.  We had fun, but all in all, I did a horrible job planning that date.

January 31 - February 6: Super Busy Week! (Spoiler: I survived)

January 31.  Saturday was a busy day.  After spending the morning doing jobs, we went to the baptism of our friend Joseph who lives in Ed and Cyndy's ward.  Abby napped through the talks.

After the baptism we were able to hang out with our friends the Kopaigoras.  They had a new trampoline which was enjoyed by the kids along with the weather.

Bryce had an evening event so I let the kids have a bit of a movie night on the blow up bed even though I was totally exhausted.  We watched their newest craze: Slugterra.

February 1.  For Superbowl Sunday we went back up to Ed and Cyndy's and had another chance to hang out with the Kopaigoras.

February 2.  Monday was a very busy day.  I found out that a bill, which the PDA had some concerns about, was going up for committee vote.  I had been unsure what we were able to do since I knew we couldn't lobby.  I got the green light to pursue it 30 minutes before the hearing, which was just enough time to thrown on a suit and race to the capitol.  It was a very crazy afternoon.  Good thing the day started with Stan's lovely hairdo.

February 3.  On Tuesday morning Abby and Stan played together so cute.  They took buckets of toys they had packed when we went to drop off Kimball and they held hands back to the car.  That evening we had a nice Relief Society meeting on how to make your home and MTC and prepare your kids to be missionaries.

February 4.  Wednesday was another very busy day.  We had a parent teacher conference for Kimball first thing in the morning.  He is doing well in school.  His teacher says he is very kind and considerate and that he stays on task.  If there is something to work on it is finishing projects a little more quickly.  He likes to take his time.  (He must be related to his Dad.)

Wednesday was also doctor day.  Stan and Abby went in the morning and Kimball went in the afternoon.  Stan got 4 shots and Abby got 3.

After the doctor the boys had a picnic with our neighbors.  They got out a blanket and all the toy food while eating snacks.

The best part of the day came when Grandma and Grandpa Hansen picked up the boys for an overnighter.  They got to end the day with a movie at the Kaysville theater.  Abby was so sad she didn't get to go.  We need to get her potty trained because Grandma and Grandpa have bad knees which makes diaper changes hard.

February 5.  Abby got up and stood by the door asking for Grandma's house.  It about broke my heart.  It was worse because I had a full day of meetings planned and she was going to be with babysitters.  I first had a meeting at the State Capitol.  After the meeting I had lunch in Layton.  I ran home after the lunch to give Abby kisses before a nap.  She was a trooper.  In the afternoon I had another meeting downtown.  It is hard on me to have such long days.  The boys decided to have one more night at Grandma and Grandpa's.

February 6.  Friday, after picking up the boys, I did a little work.  Then I took the kids and the neighbors to the park.  It was a lovely day.  We met up with some other neighbors and tried to fly kites.  I really do have such awesome neighbors.
