July 5-11: A Chainsaw and Padawan Braids

July 5.  Saturday evening was an Open House for my mission companion Kristin and her new husband Jeremy.  When we arrived we discovered that it was hosted by members from their deaf ward and most of the people in attendance only spoke ASL.  It was interesting to meet them and celebrate with Kristin. We stopped for Slurpees on the way home.

July 6.  We had a nice relaxing Sunday.  The only picture I have from that day is one of Kimball's growing pumpkin plant.

July 7.  On Monday Bryce rented the chainsaw again and got to work on the last of the Juniper bush.  The boys were pretty excited to watch him work.

There is still some of the bush left for Bryce's giant Bonsi tree, but most is gone.  It really opens up the yard and looks nice.  We also trimmed up the trees.  We still have a big pile of branches in the front yard because we can never get enough stuffed into our garbage can.

Kimball insisted that I take a picture of him eating dinner:

July 8.  Abby really loves playing with her brothers and sitting next to them.  Sometimes they are a little bothered by her enthusiasm, like when she hits them on the head because she wants to play.

Tuesday was a big day for haircuts at the house.  I took the kids to the dollar store earlier in the day and let them pick out a toy prize for getting their hair cut.  Usually Stan hates getting his hair cut which is why I let it go so long, but he really wanted his new Jake and the Neverland Pirates toy so he went first.  Here are his before, after and padawan braid shots.  The boys are excited to grow their braids for Star Wars 7 in December 2015.  But not as excited as Bryce.

Kimball almost didn't get a braid because he didn't like how tight the elastic was in his hair.  I think he has a bit of a sensitive scalp, but we finally got it to work so it didn't bother him.

July 9.  Wednesday was a long work day for me but that was because Bryce and I went to a lunch for the Women's Tech Council.  The speakers were from 4 companies that work in the genomics area.  It was super interesting.  I didn't realize that you could get a kit from Ancestry.com to have your DNA tested and they can use it to find your cousins!  While Bryce and I were off having fun.  The kids made lion manes with London.

July 10.  Thursday was work, piano lessons and swimming.  With pizza for dinner.  We don't have any pictures of the fun, but then I wasn't feeling too well that day.  A two hour nap did help.

July 11.  Friday we were able to hang out with some of our favorite people and get free Slurpees because it was 7-11.  It was the perfect way to end the week.
